Breaking Usability Rules to Enable Reflection

Human-computer interactions are often optimised towards effectiveness and usability. There are situations, however, when an interface should encourage reflection before interaction occurs. Quanjer & Lamers argue that the rules of usability may need to be broken to instil reflection in users, for example by enforcing a delay in the interaction to make sure that actions are purposeful.
